When a loss occurs – 1

إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ‎

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raajioon

Indeed we belong to Allah , and indeed to Him we will return.

Surah Al-Baqarah 2:156

Upon seeing someone going through a trial or tribulation – 3

الْحَمْـدُ للهِ الّذي عافاني مِمّا ابْتَـلاكَ بِهِ، وَفَضَّلَـني عَلى كَثيـرٍ مِمَّنْ خَلَـقَ تَفْضـيلا

Alhamdu lillaahil-lathee ‘aafaanee mimmab-talaaka bihi wa fadhdhalanee ‘alaa katheerin mimman khalaqa tafdheela

Praise is to Allah Who has spared me what He has afflicted you with, and preferred me greatly above much of what He has created.

Upon reaching the Yemeni corner during Tawaf – 1

رَبَّنآ ءَاتِنَا فِى اْلدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَ فى الاخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَ قِنَا عَذَابَ اْلنَّارِ

Rabbana aatina fid dunniyya hasanatan wa fil akhirati hasanatan wa qina ‘adhaban nar

Our Lord! Grant us good in this world and good in the hereafter, and save us from the punishment of the Fire

Upon Leaving Mosque – 1

بِسْمِ اللّهِ وَالصَّلاَةُ وَالسَّلاَمُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللّهِ، اَللَّهُـمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْـلِكَ، اَللَّهُـمَّ اعْصِمْنِـي مِنَ الشَّيْـطَانِ الرَّجِـيمِ.

Bismil-lah wassalatu wassalamu AAala rasoolil-lah, allahumma innee as-aluka min fadlik, allahumma iAAsimnee minash-shaytanir-rajeem.

In the name of Allah, and prayers and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, I ask You from Your favour. O Allah, guard me from the accursed devil.

Upon hearing thunder – 1

سُبْـحانَ الّذي يُسَبِّـحُ الـرَّعْدُ بِحَمْـدِهِ، وَالملائِكـةُ مِنْ خيـفَته

Subhaanal-lathee yusabbihur-ra’du bihamdihi walmalaa’ikatu min kheefatihi

Glory is to Him Whom thunder and angels glorify due to fear of Him.

Al-Muwatta’ 2:992

Upon entering Mosque – 1

أَعوذُ بِاللّهِ العَظِيـمِ، وَبِوَجْهِـهِ الكَرِيـمِ وَسُلْطـَانِه القَدِيـمِ، مِنَ الشَّيْـطَانِ الرَّجِـيمِ، [ بِسْـمِ اللّهِ وَالصَّلَاةُ ] [وَالسَّلامُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللّهِ]، اَللَّهُـمَّ افْتَـحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتـِكَ.

aAAoothu billahil-AAatheem wabiwajhihil-kareem wasultanihil-qadeem minash-shaytanir-rajeem, [bismil-lah, wassalatu] [wassalamu AAala rasoolil-lah] , allahumma iftah lee abwaba rahmatik.

I take refuge with Allah, The Supreme and with His Noble Face, and His eternal authority from the accursed devil. In the name of Allah, and prayers and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, open the gates of Your mercy for me.
